The Comic Book Guide the Mission is making its convention debut! We'll be at WonderCon all weekend, hanging out at the Skoda Man Press table (D18) with copies of The Comic Book Guide to the Mission, as well as additional comics from Sean Chiki, Roman Muradov, Jamaica Dyer, and Geoff Vasile, as well as Matt Stewart's novel The French Revolution. Plus, expect signings with Dyer, Muradov, Mario Hernandez, Dan V., Jeff Walker -- and more!

Not enough Mission Comics artists for you? Cover artist Chuck Whelon will be wielding his mighty pen over in Artist's Alley (AA-089). Visit Jonas Madden-Connor at the Family Style table (SP-19) and Justin Hall at Prism Comics (319). Plus, Shaenon Garrity, Andrew Farago, and Chuck Whelon will all be revolutionizing your comics consumption at Sunday's webcomics panel (2:30-3:30). If you loved the wisecracking characters from Mike White's closing piece "Amity Blamity Presents: The Mission," you're in luck! Gretchen, Chester, and Uncle Downey all star in Mike White's full-length graphic novel, Amity Blamity, Book One. The trio of girl, man child, and potbellied pig live together on a quiet farm that becomes not-so-quiet when strange critters start invading from the forest. It's a family-friendly tale of talking animals, moonshine, and genetic mutation.

Congrats to Roman Muradov on his Stumptown Comic Arts Award nomination! Roman has been nominated for "Best Artist" for his comic "A Cave" as well as his short strips (including pages he contributed to The Comic Book Guide to the Mission!).

Mission Comics Artists Do Noise Pop!

The weekend The Comic Book Guide to the Mission finally hit shelves happened to be the week of Noise Pop 2011, San Francisco's music and arts festival. Isotope Comics engaged several cartoonists to document the events, including Comic Book Guide contributors Justin Hall, Jamaica Dyer, Greg Hinkle, and Roman Muradov. The Comic Book Guide to the Mission is in stores, on shelves, so it's officially time to have our launch party!

Join us tomorrow, Friday, March 11th, at Mission: Comics and Art (3520 20th St, Suite B, in San Francisco) starting at 7pm. Come have a drink, shop for comics, and meet the creators. Plus, admire Mission: Comics and Art's gallery space -- check out the events calendar for upcoming shows.

Several people have asked me where they can buy a print of Chuck Whelon's amazing book cover. And today I got my answer!

Chuck has put prints of his fictionalized version of the 16th and Mission intersection up for sale on deviantART. The prints come in a variety of sizes, framed and unframed. Of course, the larger the size, the better to see all those fantastic details.

What is the Comic Book Guide to the Mission?
We're publishing an anthology of brief comics set in San Francisco's Mission District. We're looking for all sorts of stories -- slice-of-life vignettes, ribald tales, tours of your favorite spots, perspectives on how the neighborhood has changed.

How do I submit a story?
Email your story to skodamanpress@gmail.com.

I don't know anything about writing for comics. Can I still submit a story?
Absolutely! Send us your prose and we will turn it into a comic script.

I have a great story, but I'm not much of a writer. Is there any way I could just tell you my story?
Sure. We've had people send in mp3 files, and you can always just email us to set up a time to meet or talk on the phone.

I'm an artist. Can I illustrate my own story -- or someone else's?
Yes, several artists are illustrating their own pieces and we're still looking for artists to illustrate other people's stories. Email us items from your portfolio (as attachments or links) and your page rates.

How long should the comics be?
The bulk of the book will be five-page comics, but we are accepting some shorter comics, including single page and single panel comics.

I have an awesome story, but it's about the Tenderloin/The Haight/The Richmond/etc. Will you consider it?
